When an older adult falls it can create a domino effect on their health. They may suffer a severe injury, like a hip fracture, leading to reduced mobility, reduced independence, and a greater chance of premature death. Even after recovering from a fall, some develop a fear of falling and will limit their activities. Cutting back on exercise and fitness often leads to a greater chance of falling.
We want you to live a healthy, safe, and independent life! To do that you need to keep moving. Fit and Fall Proof™ is an exercise-based fall prevention program. Local volunteers are trained to lead the classes and senior citizens are invited to attend from any of the surrounding communities. The exercises are simple and full of fun, especially because you can bring your friends.

Good nutrition, physical activity, and a healthy weight are all essential parts of a person’s overall health and well-being. Together, these can help decrease a person’s risk of developing serious health conditions, like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer. A healthy diet, regular physical activity, and maintaining a healthy weight also are paramount to managing health conditions so they do not worsen over time.
It’s our mission to help our community eat healthy, do something active every day, and maintain a healthy weight. Learn more about other ways of staying fit and eating a healthy diet here.
